Certificate in Artificial Intelligence for Africa.

Free Carnegie Mellon University Africa AI Certificate 2026 Carnegie Mellon University Africa (CMU-Africa) is inviting qualified learners to apply for its Certificate in Artificial Intelligence for Africa, a six-course online program designed to equip participants with practical artificial intelligence skills and knowledge relevant to the African context.

The program is designed for learners who want to understand artificial intelligence, develop AI-powered solutions, and strengthen their technical capabilities for an increasingly technology-driven labour market.

A major feature of the opportunity is that the certificate program is cost-free for qualified applicants.

The program combines AI concepts, African-context applications, programming, mathematics, machine learning, and generative AI. Through hands-on exercises using industry-standard tools, learners are expected to develop practical competencies that can be applied to real-world challenges.

Applications and recommendations for the upcoming cohort will be accepted from 15 October to 15 November 2026.

The new cohort is scheduled to begin on 17 January 2027.
