Ghanaian workers rank #4 in Africa on AI literacy. Ghanaian enterprises rank near the bottom of the continent on AI deployment. That gap is the central finding for Ghana in new data on the global AI workforce.

The 2026 Global Outsourcing AI Readiness Index, just published by Ataraxis, ranks the world's top 25 outsourcing destinations on AI adoption, workforce AI literacy, enterprise AI adoption, and AI education pipeline. Ghana ranks #20 globally and #6 in Africa, with workforce AI literacy as a relative strength and enterprise deployment as the most urgent gap to close.

2026 Index data relevant to your coverage:

Ghana scores 42.25 out of 100, ranking #20 globally and #6 in Africa on AI readiness. South Africa leads the continent at 66.5. Ghana sits 1.1 points behind Morocco (43.35) above it and 1.65 points ahead of Pakistan (40.6) below it.

Ghana ranks #4 in Africa on workforce AI literacy, behind only Nigeria (66), South Africa (63), and Kenya. With a score of 54 out of 100, Ghana's workforce sits above Egypt (50), Morocco (41), Uganda (34), and Ethiopia (33). Workforce literacy is Ghana's relative strength on the continent, even with a modest absolute score.

Ghana's enterprise AI adoption score of 31 is its most urgent gap. South Africa is the only African country with an enterprise AI adoption score above 50 (65). Every other African country in the index scores below 40: Nigeria (34), Kenya (35), Morocco (39), Ghana (31), Uganda (14), and Ethiopia (14). Enterprise AI deployment has barely begun across most of the continent.

Ghana's 23-point gap between workforce AI literacy (54) and enterprise AI adoption (31) reflects the broader African pattern: workforces are adopting AI tools faster than the businesses employing them are deploying AI in production.

At 36 out of 100 in the AI education pipeline, Ghana's AI talent development infrastructure sits in the bottom fourth of all 25 destinations.

Ghana's position in the Index is genuinely contested. The country sits in a tight cluster on AI readiness between Morocco (43.35) above it and Pakistan (40.6) below. Small improvements in any dimension produce immediate ranking movement.
