Welcome to the Ghana AI Summit & Awards 2026 event newsletter, a landmark gathering celebrating two days of innovation, collaboration, and excellence in Ghana’s growing artificial intelligence ecosystem. The summit convened innovators, policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and AI enthusiasts to examine how AI can contribute to economic growth, inclusive development, and job creation in Ghana and across Africa.The 2nd edition of the Ghana AI Summit& Awards held from 29–30 July 2026 in Accra, featured engaging discussions, practical sessions, and a hands-on Masterclass that brought AI concepts to life through physical computing and movement-based machine learning using the BBC micro CreateAI. Participants explored how to collect movement data, train gesture-recognition models, and develop AI-powered prototypes.The conversations also offered key insights from our speakers: Edward Aikins highlighted the need to move AI from pilots to scale and enterprise value; Dr. Emmanuel Nartey emphasised that Ghana’s readiness will shape the future of work; while Bright Simons underscored AI’s ability to automate modes of reasoning and its connection to human social complexity.As we look ahead, the 3rd edition of the Ghana AI Summit is expected to take place from 24–25 March 2027.

Ghana’s AI Gap Sits With Employers, Index Says
The 2026 Global Outsourcing AI Readiness Index gives Ghana 54 out of 100 for workforce AI literacy but 31 for enterprise AI adoption, a 23-point spread. Its AI education pipeline scores 36. Ghana’s overall score is 42.25, placing it sixth in Africa.

Ghana has opened its 2026 National ICT Week with a call for stronger collaboration among government, industry, academia and technology innovators to accelerate the country’s digital transformation.
