Welcome to the Ghana AI Summit & Awards 2026 event newsletter, a major gathering that brought together innovators, policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and AI enthusiasts to celebrate innovation and explore the growing role of artificial intelligence in Ghana and across Africa. The summit provided a platform for meaningful conversations on how AI can drive economic growth, inclusive development, job creation, and digital transformation.A key highlight was the Ghana AI Awards, which celebrated the achievements and contributions of individuals and organisations across eight award categories, recognising excellence and impact in Ghana’s growing AI ecosystem.The Ghana AI Summit & Awards brought together key stakeholders from across the AI ecosystem to share knowledge, showcase innovative solutions, foster collaboration, and promote the responsible development and adoption of AI. The 2nd edition was held from 29–30 July 2026 in Accra, with the 3rd edition of the Ghana AI Summit & Awards expected to take place from 24–25 March 2027.

As Ghanaian businesses are being encouraged to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve productivity, cybersecurity officials are warning that the rush to adopt the technology could expose corporate data and intellectual property if companies do not understand how the tools they use handle information.

AgenTrust AI Fellowship 2026: Up to $50,000
The AgenTrust AI Fellowship 2026, launched by OPAQUE, is a six-month fully remote program for engineers, researchers, and AI governance professionals working on trustworthy and verifiable AI agents. Call for applicants: Building Language AI for GhanaApplications are open for PhD and MPhil positions focused on research that helps keep Ghanaian languages visible, usable, and relevant in emerging AI systems. Applicants must submit a research proposal, CV, and academic transcript(s). MPhil applicants require a 3-page proposal, while PhD applicants require an 8-page proposal. The deadline is 30 August 2026.
