Title:
NADMO BOAFO: Ghana's AI Chatbot for Disaster Response
Details:
The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has introduced NADMO BOAFO, an AI-powered WhatsApp chatbot designed to strengthen disaster preparedness, emergency reporting, and public access to disaster information in Ghana.
Developed with support from UNESCO and funded by the Government of Japan, the chatbot enables citizens to interact with NADMO directly through WhatsApp, providing an accessible and familiar platform for emergency communication.
NADMO BOAFO allows users to report incidents such as floods, fires, storms, and building collapses while receiving real-time guidance and disaster preparedness information. The service also provides safety tips and practical advice before, during, and after emergencies, helping communities respond more effectively to disaster situations.
Available 24 hours a day, the chatbot improves access to emergency information beyond traditional office hours and supports faster communication between the public and NADMO.
