Adoley Azu

Naa Adoley Azu is a lawyer, AI Governance and Public Policy Leader, and former Justice of the High Court of Ghana, whose work sits at the intersection of law, technology, public policy, and institutional accountability. With over 15 years of cross-sector leadership experience, she advises on responsible AI deployment, governance systems, and technology policy across public, private, and social impact spaces. She previously served as Principal Program Manager for Inclusive Research at Microsoft, where she led initiatives focused on embedding responsible innovation, accessibility, and global usability principles into emerging technology ecosystems and AI product development. Her work spans government, civil rights enforcement, regulatory affairs, dispute resolution, and global technology governance. Naa Adoley is the Founder and Executive Director of the Institute for AI Policy and Governance (AIPG), an initiative advancing practical approaches to AI governance, accountability, and institutional readiness. Her current work explores how governance infrastructure, including AI oversight mechanisms, transparency systems, and public-interest accountability tools, can support ethical AI adoption while strengthening data sovereignty, public trust, and inclusive innovation. A passionate advocate for technology justice and human-centered policy, she is particularly focused on influencing the systems and governance models that will define AI’s global impact. She combines legal acumen with expertise in facilitation, dispute resolution, and capacity-building, positioning her as both a strategic advisor and practical problem-solver. She holds an LLB from the University of Ghana, an LLM in Air and Space Law from McGill University, an LLM from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, and a Certificate in Management from the Kellogg School of Management.
